A solid introduction with minimal time requirements. If you are 100% completely new and potentially intimidated by AI, then this course is a great entry point. If you are looking to dive deeper and get some practical hands-on experience and break things, then this is probably not the best course. I enjoyed it, it reinforced many concepts; however, it really is for people who are just dipping their toes into AI and would like a non-intimidating introduction to the basics, like what an LLM is, what tools exist and other baseline topics. Great for what it does, but just be aware that this is very entry level--which is not a bad thing!

The Google AI Essentials course is a great, beginner-friendly way to learn how to actually use AI in everyday life and work. Instead of getting too technical, it focuses on practical skills like writing good prompts, checking AI outputs, and understanding what AI can (and can’t) do. Personally, it’s really helpful for saving time—things like drafting emails, brainstorming ideas, or summarizing information become much easier. Professionally, it’s a big plus too, since knowing how to use AI tools can boost productivity and make you more effective at work. Overall, it’s simple, useful, and easy to follow—perfect if you want to feel more confident using AI without feeling overwhelmed.

I found the course informative and accessible. I liked the mixture of videos, questions and different scenarios. I liked the different people and their approaches, highlighting various pros and cons of AI. One critiscm. It was hard to navigate around the screen information. Menus were a bit hidden within Coursere and it was very difficult snd confusing to track my progress in what I had completed and needed yet to complete. Other than that I thought the course was excellent and would recommend it. But I did do it accompanied with a weekly 2 hour class session, which is the perfect compliment. I would recommend keeping the combination of online and classroom formats.

This course has significantly opened new perspectives for my policy analysis work. AI helps me summarize lengthy policy documents much faster and analyze data from multiple sources simultaneously to support decision-making. Using AI to draft reports and policy recommendations saves tremendous time, allowing me to focus more on deep analytical thinking. It also enables rapid scenario modeling and impact assessment of various policies. Most importantly, I learned how to ask the right questions to AI to obtain valuable information for strategic planning. This is a crucial new skill essential for work in this era.
