Build foundational IT support skills with Microsoft as you learn how computer systems, networks, security, cloud services, and data protection work in modern business environments. This beginner-level Professional Certificate is designed for learners who want to start a career in IT support, including recent graduates, career changers, and anyone interested in technology.
Across three courses, you’ll explore computer hardware, operating systems, business software, secure networking, cloud computing, software and hardware configuration, and data backup strategies. You’ll learn how CPUs, memory, storage, and operating systems work together. You’ll also study networking concepts such as TCP/IP, OSI models, IP addressing, protocols, firewalls, authentication, and authorization.
The program also introduces Microsoft-aligned concepts, including Microsoft 365 fundamentals and Azure basics. You’ll gain practical knowledge of secure software setup, hardware protection, data storage, compression, backup, and recovery. By the end, you’ll understand key IT concepts that support roles such as IT Support Specialist, Help Desk Technician, Technical Support Specialist, and Junior Systems Support Specialist.
No prior IT experience is required.
Applied Learning Project
Across the Professional Certificate, learners will complete hands-on final projects at the end of each course to apply their skills in realistic IT scenarios. These projects are designed to reinforce core concepts and build practical confidence in working with IT systems, networking, and data protection.
In the first course, learners design a foundational computing system by combining knowledge of hardware, operating systems, and business environments. In the networking course, learners apply their understanding of network structures, protocols, and security concepts to evaluate and support secure network environments. In the final course, learners develop a comprehensive data strategy, focusing on secure software and hardware configurations along with data backup and recovery planning.
These course-level projects help learners translate theoretical knowledge into practical problem-solving skills relevant to entry-level IT support roles.
